Inhibitors in raw milk
Following the publication in December 2021 of version 2.7 of the circular on rapid tests and microbiological inhibitor tests for detecting inhibitory substances in raw milk as part of own-check systems, the FASFC published a new version at the start of this summer, which applies with immediate effect. This differs from the previous version, which had a transition period until 01/07/2023.
So what has changed between the two versions? Find out in the blog below.
For background information that will help you read and correctly interpret the rest of this text, we refer you to our previous blog on inhibitory substances and how they are detected in raw milk.
Perhaps the main question is why the new circular applies with immediate effect. The reason is that the FASFC now distinguishes on its website between the rapid tests validated and recognised by the FASFC that are approved up to and including 30/06/2023, and those that remain valid. In line with this, the same was done for the detection capability of the rapid tests concerned.
There are no further changes to the content. It therefore appears that the FASFC amended the circular in order to bring together all information on milk and colostrum on a revamped web page, which also lists the validated and recognised rapid tests.
